The Beam tenants enjoy a networking event on the terrace

Senior staff from The Beam occupiers were invited along to an executive breakfast event on the sunny terrace with stunning views of the Sunderland bridges and coast line.

The event was sponsored by Ocado UK who now employ 350 staff at their Customer Hub over two floors of The Beam.

Ocado Head of Customer Hub, Paul Greenwood said “I am fairly new to the role so I suggested we host an event to meet the neighbours. The Knight Frank building management team did a great job bringing together all the stakeholders and The Terrace was the perfect setting for the event”.

Representatives from office agents Knight Frank and Naylors Gavin & Black were in attendance to provide an update on  the space available in The Beam,  The City Hall and the new grade A office developments which will be built in front of The Beam in the next few years.

Sunderland City Council Senior Asset Manager, Chris Healy and his team were on hand to provide an update to tenants on the Riverside Sunderland development. Tenants were advised that work on the new footbridge will start shortly and the bridge will be complete by 2023.

Knight Frank Tenant Advisor, Laura Kerry said “I was appointed to support tenants at the beginning of the pandemic and it has been difficult to encage with tenants face to face. It was great to finally get everyone together in person to discuss how we can collaborate on projects. It’s a very exciting time for Riverside Sunderland as the City Hall is due to open in the Autumn and it will be a fantastic opportunity to strengthen the workplace community that we have established at The Beam when we welcome more employees to the site.

All tenants enjoyed the informal aspect of the event and It was decided that it will be marked on The Beam community calendar as a bi-annual event.
