Staff at Riverside Sunderland were encouraged to reduce their carbon footprint in the run up to Earth Day 2023 with a series of events from 18-21 April.
Sunderland family business, The Eco Stall were invited in to do a pop up shop in the Brew & Bake café on Tuesday, selling their plastic free every day essentials to promote sustainable living.
Veolia Waste provided an information stall on Wednesday. Riverside Sunderland staff were invited to play games to find out what items can be recycled in exchange for eco-friendly prizes such as bio degradable stationary and reusable coffee cups. Colleagues were also encouraged to exchange their clothes in a clothes swap hosted in the City Hall Chamber. Key information and advice were emailed to staff to improve plastic recycling and ideas to promote sustainable fashion.
On Thursday there was a theme around low carbon and active travel and cyclists were rewarded with a free breakfast in Brew & Bake as well as a free bike MOT from the guys at Bike4Health.
The events were a great success, well done to all involved.
